Lucy König – B3/09 Gg6, 2025, Untersberger Marmor, 74 x 32 x 10 cm
Lucy König is a sculptor living in Leipzig. She studied at the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy in Halle and the Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul. Her work has been supported by the Burg Giebichenstein Graduate Program and numerous residencies, including at the Mecklenburgisches Künstlerhaus Plüschow and the Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop. Her work has also been awarded the Saalesparkasse Foundation Art Prize and has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Ritter Waldenbuch Museum, the Neue Galerie Kassel, the Kunsthalle der Sparkasse Leipzig, and the Waidspeicher in Erfurt. She is and has also been a lecturer at Burg Giebichenstein, the HGB Leipzig, and the University of Osnabrück.
At the heart of Lucy König’s sculptural works are the liminal areas of bodies—in the form of figures, shells, or architecture. Extended self-spaces made of textiles and stone paint a multifaceted picture of the interface between the individual and society. Between confinement and security, voyeurism and protectionism, they mark our personal boundaries.
