Gökçen Dilek Acay
Gökçen Dilek Acay completed a bachelor’s degree in violin at the Faculty of Art and Design at Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul from 2003 to 2008. From 2006 to 2007 she participated in the exchange program at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar, before studying fine art at the Bauhaus University in Weimar from 2009 to 2012, which she supplemented with a master’s degree in media art from 2012 to 2016.
She has participated in numerous exhibitions, most recently a solo exhibition “Have you ever touched a bug’s belly?” at the ACC Gallery Weimar. She has participated in international artist residencies in the USA, Norway, Japan, Taipei, South Korea, and China. In 2021 she received a working scholarship for contemporary art from the Free State of Thuringia. In 2024, she received the Thuringian State Scholarship for Fine Arts.
In addition to live performances with violin, singing, and dance, she works as a multidisciplinary visual artist. In her work, she explores concepts of oppression, power, and the destructive aspects of human nature.
Gökçen Dilek Acay is represented by the Galerie Eigenheim in Weimar.
